Mumbai Monorail was first of its kind in India, which is why it needed something to be identified by and remembered by. To design the colour scheme what better inspiration could be than the city of Mumbai itself. Mumbai is on a routine but is different everyday, it provides a living to people irrespective of the social class, creed, religious background or occupation. Everything exists in Mumbai an maintains harmony and balance yet is different every single day. So three colours were proposed to co-exist, split equally among 15 rakes, apple green, icy blue and royal pink. The pattern was designed in a way that the rake looks and gets perceived different when viewed from either ends. The three colours break monotony of the average Mumbaikars life, giving him a little play and a choice of colour every day.
